Job description
#The QA Architect’s primary role is to understand the product features, define the strategy for testing product features, and automate test scripts and to enhance the automation framework to keep up with the new features coming into QA so that we can automate as much as possible.

#Experience in Java, testing concepts, knowledge of various databases, platforms and automation.

#Experienced in defining test strategy for new product features

#The person should have minimum 8+ years experience with at least 5 years in a QA role with prior exposure to automation frameworks.

#Good communication and inter-personal skills to be able to work with developers at pre-QA stages

#Product Development background and should have been playing hands-on technical role for the past 3-4 years

You will be:
• part of a multi-skilled test team
• comfortable in a multi-platform test environment but with special skills IBM Mainframe/z-OS and some mainframe applications
• responsible for testing products under the direction of a test team leader (this covers test case development, test planning, creating test configurations, test execution and bug logging)
• expected to develop a detailed knowledge of the test area that you have been allocated
• expected to promote the sharing of knowledge within our team especially in the area of testing mainframe applications
• responsible for ensuring that the team leader is kept up to date with the status of testing and any problems encountered
As the first member of our test team to have mainframe experience, you will be working in alone for periods at a time. Over time, it is expected that we will have to deepen our mainframe test capacity and this role will provide an excellent opportunity to help direct and develop that capacity.

Work Experience and Skills Requirements
Essential:
• Several years applied knowledge of IBM mainframe systems.
• Working with LPARS, z/OS, MVS, CICS, JCL, IMS.
• Knowledge of Tivoli product suite – esp ITM and ITCAM families
• Working knowledge of the SWG PDM and/or Tivoli TPDM
• Several years experience using a high level programming knowledge (C++/Java)
• Working knowledge of the following operating systems: AIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows Servers & Clients
• Working knowledge of networks, protocols, alternative network topologies and network services.
• Experience in creation and execution of multi-platform test suites.
• Direct experience in automating software test processes.
• Must be willing to work in a team environment, sharing knowledge, following team rules and enhancing the whole team’s performance.
• Thorough understanding of the test life cycle and how it fits into the overall software development lifecycle.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical details to both experts and novices.
• Ability to provide clear and detailed written procedures and reports.
• Ability to execute project plans, providing required regular status updates and identification and escalation of issues encountered during execution that will prevent or delay execution.
• Ability to interact with and influence others at all levels of the organisation in order to complete tasks.
• Creativity, initiative and development of ideas for current projects; identification and initiation of appropriate new projects.

Desirable:
• System administration experience on IBM mainframes
• Knowledge of the IBM Rational family of software tools including ClearCase, ClearQuest, Clear Quest Test manager, Rational Manual Tester, rational Function Tester, Purify, Pure Coverage, Pure Performance and how they can be used in conjunction with each other.

• A working knowledge of a scripting language like Perl/Python.
